Networking Guest to Router

Message:

Having problems, getting the Guest OS (Windows XP) to get to the internet.

The setup for Guest OS is Adapter 1: Inter(R) PRO/100 VE Network connection.
In the Guest OS, the connection is set to obtain and IP address automatically.

I have not changed any setting on the Host OS (Windows XP)

The part I can't work out is, the Guest OS is assigned a IP address by the
router ( DHCP ) And the router info web pages shows that it's connected and
as assigned a IP address.

However I can get it to work. Ping gets request timed out.

I set two other vitrual PC's using DSL linux and Ubantu, just to see if it
would work. However I get the exact same problem.

I tried using the loop back adapter and had even less success.

I then used VMware and a copy of ubantu, it worked with no problems.
Personally I think Virtual PC 2004 is heaps better and works better all
round.

I think that the Router is messing up the connection, but have no idea why.

Any pointers would be a great help.
