VHD linked to hard disk?

Has anyone had any success linking a VHD to a physical hard disk? I bought
a new 160GB SATA hard drive, and at first, VirtualPC just locked up and quit
when trying to access it. Now that I initialized and formatted the new
drive, rebooted the host, and patched VPCSP1, it will boot (with the W98SE
boot disk), but FDISK can't recognize the correct size of the drive.
SpinRite and PartitionMagic also won't work properly either. It's almost as
if the VPC's BIOS won't work with large hard drive.

Any ideas?

Linked disks aren't the best thing to use for VPC, but anyway, yes, the 160G
is too big for VPC's bios, the max is ~130G.

Thanks. I sure hope they fix that in VPC 2007. With as many new hard drive
failures as I've had within the last couple months, I was really hoping to
be able to run SpinRite on new HDs without having to hook them up to a spare
PC to do so. And since I don't have any spare PCs with SATA support, it
only makes it more troublesome...
