When I recently upgraded my harddrive to a new 200+gb Maxtor, it cam with a
utility that copied all of my old hard drive to the new one, and I just had
to switch them out.

My question is this, can the same utility be used to copy an actual harde
drive to a Virtual drive? Of course I would have to run Windows setup to
reconfigure all the hardware, but would this work ok, and what might be the
best method of doing it?

Maxblast won't see the virtual hard drive as a hard drive. On the host
system it is only a file. Try using imaging software like Ghost.
