2004. A new virtual machine with 512 RAM has been created... how do I get
the VPC to install Vista?

using Nero which is not free. I am looking for a way to do this on the
cheap, since it is strictly goofing off at this point, but if you already
have Nero or other software which will handle that step for you, you should
be good to go.

and all info will help me in my IT profession, but this VISTA project is a
home hobby. If there is any info you can pass along, I sure would
appreciate it. I'm running WinXP pro sp2, 1 GB ram, 2 320 gb physical
drives. 1st physical drive has 3 partitions: C:\ system\for XP 130gb,
H:\user data about 120 gb, and I:\for virtual stuff - about 53gb.
I've used ISObuster and extracted all of the VISTA dvd to a folder on
partition for virtual stuff. This is where the VPC program files reside
also... any input on how to proceeed would sure be appreciated

First, you need to install the program. You should get a .sys file, and put
that in your WINDOWS/system32/drivers folder. Then, running
VCDcontrolpanel.exe, go to Driver Control, click Add, navigate to the folder,
and select the driver. Now, we can begin! Go to Add Drive. Drive (most
likely Z) will be added to the section above. Click on Mount, and navigate
to your ISO file you downloaded (about 2.5 GB). Then, in your virtual
machine, when it asks to insert boot media, go to CD, and use drive Z. Press
Enter, and you should be all set. A lifesaver.

Until VPC 2007 beta releases on Wednesday, why not just use Virtual Server
to install Vista into a vm and then use VPC to run the vm? VPC 2004 still
uses the lower capacity emulated cd drive. VS (and presumabely VPC 2007)
uses a higher capacity (4.3GB) emulated cd/dvd drive.
