Hi,
I tried to install a fresh copy of Windows XP Pro and once the virtual
machine has rebooted and reached the "installing windows" state, it stops
with an error and tells me that he can't continue with the following error:

Installation Failed: D:\I386\asms. Error Message: the request could not be
performed because of an I/O device error".

This is a fatal error. Any clue?

Hi,

Try the install again: it may have been a one time fluke

If it still doesn't work:
If you're using a copy of the CD, use the original instead
If you're using the original, try creating an ISO CD image and mounting that
in VPC instead
If you're using an ISO, and you're sure it is correct, try using an ISO
mounter on the host computer and mounting the drive letter in VPC

the CD was in cause. It has a small hair on it. I carefully cleaned it and
it worked afterwards.
