Does anyone know how to troubleshoot sound?

Hi,
Everything works great on my VPC (w/ SP1) running guest OS Win XP Pro/SP2
except the sound. Its running on an ASUS z70Va laptop. The sound comes out
all crackly and disconnected like its running off of a vinyl record.
Needless to say extremly annoying, plus it makes it all but impossible to
test games before installing them on my laptop.

Any help appreciated.

I have the same problem with sound - in playing games.

Have yet to find a solution.

Tried different sound drivers to no avail.

I have Win95 as guest on XP Pro.

Trying different sound card drivers in the vm may do more harm than good.
All vm's have the SB16 sound card and the correct driver is in all the
editions of Windows except Vista.

The card on your host machine makes no difference to a running vm, although
updating your host sound card drivers is a good idea and can sometimes
resolve the issue you are having.

Well, magically I managed to fix my sound problem by fact updating win95.

I have win95A (guest OS) on XP Pro (host OS).

From the win95 update site
( http://www.microsoft.com/windows95/downloads/default.asp ) I installed
all updates pertinent to my windows version (95A) - and voila - normal sound!

I am sure I didn't need all the updates to fix the sound - but it would have
taken too long to test the game after each update.
