Installing MS Updates

I have installed the VC software and configured the guest O\S to be Windows
2000 SP4. When I try to install the MS updates I recieve the error "Files
required to use Windows Update are no longer registered or installed on your
computer" . I then choose the register or reinstall option which just sends
me back in a loop to the same error. does anyone have any thoughts or
expeienced the same issue?

sound to work but I have not tried to patch my XP installation on my vpc yet.

Are you even supposed to be able to patch a VPC's guest OS from the regular
windows update site?
