2nd Harddisk Slowdown

Using VPC 2004 SP1 with the vm additions. Host is WinXP Pro SP2 and guest
is Win98SE. The 1st harddisk is dynamic. If I add a fixed size 4 gig
harddisk as a 2nd harddisk VPC slows down to where it is unusable. Can
anybody point me to a solution?
