running win xp pro tried to install vista 32 bit in vpc starts out well but
after product key is typed in get error can not read windows image file
installation is stoped. is this vista issue or a vpc issue. allocated 600mb
ram and 30gb virtual hdd

The emulated cd/dvd drive in VPC cannot read the .iso. The max size is
2.2GB. That means you must burn a dvd and use it in your physical optical
drive or use a different virtual drive. If you have burned the dvd to
physical media the problem may be the burn speed you used. Microsoft is
advising users to use the lowest burn speed you can, 2x or 4x.
