Loads first VM when started and locks host

Source: microsoft.public.virtualpc

Message:

I have been using VM for several years and have just experienced a problem
with it. When I open with the MVPC icon, the first VM begins and loads the
first VM on the list before I choose it. After a few seconds my host (XP Pro)
completly locks. I can stop the load it if I am quick but it still locks up
my host after 10 seconds or so. I have uninstalled and reinstalled many times
with no change. I have tried removing all Virtual directories. The MVPC
software and same VMs will work fine on other XP hosts. These VMs are 98se
and 98me. Host is XP Pro with 1024 RAM. Any help would appreciated. Thanks.
