Cannot connect W98SE Virtual PC to a Windows NT 4.0 Server

My win98 virtual machine can access internet and all other functions but
cannot locate the server when I try to connect to a Physical windows NT 4.0
server. Any ideas?

Server is a Windows NT 4.0 server SP4, dhcp is provided by a linksys router.
ip for the physical computer is dhcp as well as the virtual. Internet access
on the virtual pc is working and no issues on the host machine. The virtual
pc simply cannot see the domain to join. The virtual ip information is the
same as the host except for the ip address and the host OS is windows 2000
pro.
