DHCP not working in Guests with Intel Pro/Wireless 3945ABG adapter

Hi all,

Got an odd issue here, and am wondering if this is a known problem.

I've got a laptop with an Intel Pro/Wireless 3945ABG wireless adapater.
After installing Virtual PC 2004 (and then SP1), I noticed that the "Virtual
Machine Network Services" service was listed but not enabled in the NIC's
properties. So I checked the box to enable it.

This made the NIC available as an option for my VPCs.

However, whenever I do bind a Guest OS's virtual adapter to this physical
NIC, I am unable to obtain an IP address from a DHCP server. If I bind the
virtual adapter to my wired NIC (Intel Pro/1000 PL), then I am able to
obtain an IP address. I have tried this on a number of different networks
with different DHCP servers, so I don't think it's the DHCP server.

I haven't, yet, got to the stage of getting packet captures to see what
might be going onto the network, but I can do that if that would help.

The following is logged in the System Event Log (the MAC address below
corresponds to the one assigned to the virtual adapter that is bound to the
WLAN NIC)

Event Category: None
Event ID: 10

A client application unregistered and will no longer receive Ethernet frames

Well, I haven't been able to find updated drivers. However, I think I may
have a possible solution.

I have installed the MS Loopback adapter. Then I bridged the loopback and
WLAN adapters. Then I bound the virtual NIC to the network bridge. This
seems to allow the guest OS to pick up an IP address.

Probably more complex than it needs to be (any suggestions on simplifying
this appreciated!)
