problems with shared folder access

I have Virtual PC 2004 SP1 installed on Windows XP Pro SP2.

I have two virtual machines, one Windows XP Pro, the other Windows
Server 2003 SP1.

Both virtual machines have the virtual machine additions installed, and
both have shared folders set up to the same folder on the host machine.

Occasionally, as often as several times a day, access to the shared
folders from the virtual systems will fail. This might be while
examining the shared folder with Windows Explorer, or it might be when
an application installer or other program is accessing the shared folder.

The symptom when it's explorer is that the explorer window just disappears.

The problem seems to happen more frequently when more than one file is
being accessed simultaneously.

Has anyone seen a similar problem? Any clues or suggestions?

Bob
