recovery of data from a virtual hard disk?

i have a server 2003 virtual PC that will no longer boot into windows, and i
was wondering if there was some way to recover the data from the hard disk,
if i made a new virtual 2003 server? basicly the virtual PC will show the
bios then go to black screen with a cursor, then just black...

It actually works very nicely. You can move a virtual HD fro machine to
machine, I have enven taken a Vitual PC Virtual HD and moved it to a Virtual
Server Virtual HD with no issues.

well idk where i stand now, attaching to another 2k3 install found the disk
but it didnt list it on my computer... i went to disk management and instead
of finding it as NTFS it said its file system was MBR, don't know how it did
that, but idk if i can get to the data now. i will try that 3rd party program
but i don't have much hope i don't think

alright i take that back, the 3rd party program was able to read it, and i
was able to get the files i wanted.... thanks a lot for the link, made my

now that I remember there is another way:
you can use winimage to read from the image without attaching it to another
VPC...
