zeroing in DOS

Hi, I'm testing the VirtualPC using DOS 6.22. When I tried to compact the
VHD, the size didn't changed, not even after defrag. I read that I need to
use the precompactor to zeroing the drive but it doesn't work under pure DOS.
Is there another program (or way) for zeroing under DOS?

What I do is attach the DOS .VHD to one of my Windows VMs and then run
the precompact tool from there.
