VPC2004: Network & Security...

Message:

Hi,
I have a Microsoft Virtual PC 2004 SP1 on my notebook (host) with
Win XP Pro SP2 and Norton Internet Security 2006.

I have a virtual machine with Win XP Pro SP2 (guest)
and ZoneAlarm Firewall + Kaspersky Antivirus Personal.

I want use the guest on internet to view not secure site,
to use p2p sw, to install trial/free sw
but I do not want decrease the security on the host.

I have a dsl modem with usb port but Unfortunally
Virtual PC do not support usb port.
Probably I need a new dsl modem with ethernet port.
Instead when I use an old dial-up modem (only 56k) during
the connection the guest perform a system-reset!?!
It's possible connect the guest using a remote connection dial-up/dsl
(without share the host connection)?

Currently I have only one option:

I can share the dsl connection from host to guest.
But in this case the host does not be protected.
A virus can enter in the host?

comments/answered/suggestions... Thanks in advance.
Marco.
