Bug ?? shared folder does not support long file names

It seems there is a bug using the shared folder icon from the bottom of a VM
window.. sharing folder form there instead from Virtual PC Console for the
VM may yield strange result. Please note the word may.. I don't think we
always will run into problem with using that icon.

On XP Pro host, there is a folder d:\data\aFolder2ShrWvm

I started an XP VM with Vm Additions. I login as a power user of the VM,
tried to copy some files over to the shared folder. I was told long file
names not supported and asked me to rename the file being copied

The folder to be shared does support long filenames and there are files with
long filenames. The folder does reside on NTFS.. and I do have full access

I started shared folder by clicking on the bottom file folder icon of the
VM. and specified always share option

I also noticed that inside the VM I could only directly create folders but
nothing else although I can copy in anything with name. Both folders and
files must be 8.3 format.. I can create anything in other folders inside the
VM.

I can copy in an empty zip file, open that and copy any flies or folders
with any legal XP names.

one more weir thing, the shared folder on appears inside the VM as blank
name

However I was able to work around the problem by removing the share.
go to Virtual PC Console, change setting for the Vm and added a temp. shared
folder with the same target.
