I'm running MS Server 2003 Virtual PC on a XP Pro box. I'm needing to have
"network" comunications between the two even if my NIC flylead is
disconnected. How would I resolve this?

With some network adapters there is sometimes a setting to disable "link
state detection". If you disable this, the NIC will remain "on" no matter
whether there is a cable connected or not.

Otherwise, there is always the option to install the Microsoft Loopback
adapter.

There may be other options as well...
