Adding RAM to host causes VPC to fail

I have a machine that I run VPC on. It initially had 1 GB of RAM and
all was well. I tried bumping up to 2GB - the host system (XPSP2)
reports 2GB. But VPC won't let me start a VM with greater than 345-350
MB of RAM in the settings. Anything higher than that and it displays a
message saying there is not enough RAM on the host. In the VMC settings
dialog it presents a range of 4-1845MB - so VPC can "see" the host RAM.
And I can malloc well over a gig on the machine. If I drop down to 1.5
GB on the host, VPC has no problem again. Any ideas? Thanks. Joe
