The case of the disappearing network interfaces

Source: microsoft.public.virtualpc

Message:

OK -- I've been struggling with this problem for some time and can't figure
out what's going. After a period of time (sometimes as short as a day,
sometimes as long as weeks or months) an ipconfig/all from the command line
shows no interfaces.

This occurs only when Virtual Machine Network Services are installed. To get
my network interfaces back (and when they're missing, networking is down) I
have to uninstall VMNS and sometimes I have to uninstall VPC.

If I run VPC with NAT (which doesn't require VMNS), I have no issues.

The interfaces don't actually disappear, they just aren't functional. Can't
ping, can't even see what the ip address is.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

The geek
