Networking problem with multiple Virtual Machines.

I can't get two virtual machines to talk to each other. One is XP sp2. The
other is SBS 2003. Each have two network adapters, one for the local only and
the other is set for the Microsoft loopback adapter (which is setup to share
a network connection on the host machine). Each computer can ping the host
computer and get to the internet fine. But the ping times out when I ping the
other computer. If I ping the host name of the other Virtual Machine it will
ping 192.168.0.x - the address given by the loopback adapter setup for
network sharing.
I have the IP address on the Local Only adapters set static to 10.1.1.x on
both the computer (so that I don't have to wait 2 minutes for it to make up
the 169.x.x.x address). If I ping the 10.1.1.x address it times out.
If just the Local Only is setup on each, is still doesn't work.
I have had VPC 2004 SP1 installed and I uninstalled it and reinstalled VPC
2004 to see if it was a SP1 problem.
Why won't these two VPC's connect even in Local Only mode???
