FYI BIOS Serial Number/ ServiceTag problems sharing a VMC file

We've just identified a problem caused by sharing a VMC among multiple
virtual computers. Though Virtual PC is able to ensure MAC addresses are
not duplicated, the Virtual PC's Bios Serial Number will be shared. For us
this meant the hardware management server we use could not correctly
distinguish between clients and appeared very slow/unresponsive compared to
real computers.

Solution was to edit the <Bios> section of the VMC file or better still
get everyone to create a VMC using the Virtual PC Console rather than sharing
a VMC. It would be good if this could be addressed in future versions of
Virtual PC (the same way MAC address duplication appears to have been
addressed) as it's useful to be able to share a VMC file. If you delete the
serial number in the VMC file the computer no longer has a Bios Serial Number.
