Unable to connect Virtual Machines to network

Virtual PC Could Not Open Its Emulated Ethernet Switch

I believe this is my issue with MS Virtual Server 2005. All of a
sudden my 2 virtual machines quit connecting to the network. I did
have some NIC problems on this machine and did have to install a new
NIC. Could this be the issue and if so how do i get my Virtual
machines to connect back to the network? I tried the following MS
article too but did not find the information very useful as i belive it
was for virtual PC. Thanks for the help.

About the Microsoft.public.virtualserver group, i was unable to find it
in google groups nor on Microsofts site? Can you point me in the
right direction?

Hi,

In the future, you'll want to use the Virtual Server group,
microsoft.public.virtualserver

And in regards to your problem:
Go to Control Panel -> Network Connections, right click your NIC, and select
properties

Make sure "Virtual Machine Network Services" is there and checked. If it
isn't checked, check it, if it is checked, or isn't there at all, click the
"Install" button and go to "\Program Files\Microsoft Virtual
Server\Utility\VMNetSrv" to install it

Probably the new NIC does not have the Virtual Network Service enabled (look
in the properties for the network connection).

If enabling it and restarting the Virtual Server service does not solve the
problem, you may want to try unistalling/installing again virtual server.
You are not going to lose your VMs, even though you will have to manually
add them later.
