MS Press 70-215 & Virtual PC Problem (TCP/IP Issue)

Message:

Hi people,

I am getting extremely annoyed with the problem I am having.

I am following the MS Press book for 70-215.

I am using Virtual PC 2004 for my network environment.

I am on Chapter 6 and have just upgraded my stand alone 2000 server to a DC.
I changed the IP settings for the DC to 10.10.10.1, Subnet Mask: 255.0.0.0,
Preferred DNS 10.10.10.1.

I then changed my other stand alone server to join the domain created with
the DC.

The TCP/IP settings for this were changed to exactly the same as above
except for the IP address which is 10.10.10.2. I then joined this server to
the domain and it was successful. However when I try to login to the domain
it can no longer contact the domain.

I have logged onto both server's and they cannot ping each other via DNS or
IP.

With the host machine I am using I have created a Loopback adapter so that
my virutal machines can communicate over the virutaul network. The loopback
adapter has IP of 169.254.100.103 Subnet Mask: 255.255.0.0.

Before I upgraded my servers they both had APIPA addresses like my host
machine and they could communicate with each other.

I thought that this may be a replication issue with ADS but this cannot be
right as both mchines cannot see each other on the network.

Can anyone suggest what the problem may be???

I am pulling my hair out as this is slowing my study.

Help needed in anticipation

Thanks

Scott
