Trying to Add Virtual Machine Network Services gets error

Source: microsoft.public.virtualpc

Message:

I installed Virtual PC 2004 on an XP system running XP service pack 2 on a
Gateway P4 system. Virtual PC 2004 was installed by one of the system
administrators for the domain, and all worked OK.

I then upgraded to SP1 of Virtual PC using a local administrator account on
the PC and Virtual Machine Network Services was no longer availalble in the
properites of my adapters.

When I try to add Virtual Machine Network Services by doing an install of
the service, I always get "access denied" after selecting "Virtual Machine
Network Services" under the list of network services that can be installed.
I am the local administrator for this PC, although it is part of a domain
that I am not an administrator for.

Please note that I did not have an either of the two ethernet adapters
active (both cat cables disconnected) at the time I installed service pack 1
for Virtual PC. I suspect this may be an issue (local logon of a local admin
account, install went OK and I did not get any errors).

I now plan to uninstall and then reinstall the Virtual PC software sometime
in the next few days while the adapter cables are in place.

Any suggestions short of uninstalling and then reinstalling the Virtual PC
software.
