Virtual Hard Drives (newbie)

I have already created the Virtual "C" drive when I installed VirtualPC. ANy
attempt to set up Drives 2 and 3 meet with failure. They aren't recognized
anywhere as drives D or E. My host system is WinXP and Guest system is
WIN98. I cna make shared folders on my host system availabel by burning a
drive letter like Z or X, but still cannot make drive D or E appear in Win98
Explorer. Am I missing something?

Of Course! I keep forgetting that the VirtualPC is EXACTLY like a realPC,
but only on a host. I have created what should be (virtual) drives D and E,

You need to boot from some kind of operating system diskette or CD. Like a
DOS boot disk, or a Windows XP install disk for instance. It depends on
what OS you are going to install as to what you would do...

I used a Win98 startup disk I had laying about. it has FDISK & FORMAT ON IT.
I also had forgotten about this since I havn't used any DOS utils in such a
long time, but it came back pretty quickly. One has to FDISK the drive first
then format. If you need infor, just type FORMAT /? at the DOS promt and it
will give you a list of command line switches. Same for FDISK /?.
