Stop error during install of 2000

I'm trying to install Windows 2000 on a Dell Dimension 8300.

When Windows 2000 Pro begins the setup process from the CD Rom an abrupt
Stop error appears, with strange cause and possible symptoms.

If this is the first time you've seen this Stop error screen, restart your
computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:

Check to be sure you have adequate disk space. If a driver is identified in
the Stop message, disable the driver or check with the manufacturer for the
driver updates. Try changing video adapters.

Check with your hardware vendor for any BIOS updates. Disable BIOS memory
options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use Safe Mode to remove
or disable components, restart your computer, press F8 to select Advanced
Startup Options, and then Select Safe Mode.

Refer to your Getting Started manual for more informa on troubleshooting
Stop errors.

The disk is integrated with Service Pack 4, I checked the the knowledged for
answers. The only possible clue I got was that it could be my USB devices
(Scanner and Printer) thats preventing the setup process. I unplugged them
and re-ran setup, but got the same error message. What must I do now? Oh, my
mouse is USB only, could that also be causing an issue because Window 2000
is trying to detect it also?
