Hello all,

Am i being blonde here?!? i thought vpc auto expanded the virtual hd?

The VPC HD is currently at 2.14GB and there's 16GB free space on the host
drive but i'm getting running low on space within the vpc, 190MB free on
vpc. installed with default settings

VPC2004 with SP1 (thanks ms for SP1!!!)

When I run the Virtual Disk Wizard, that only lets me: "Compact it", or
"Convert it to a fixed-size virtual hard disk". I'm presumming the latter
will want all of the remaining 16GB (on host) or can that be restricted?

In Windows, right-click the drive and select Properties.

This will not make the virtual hard disk any larger in its virtual size (as
perceived by Windows), it will only make the VHD file on the host PC as
large as the virtual hard disk it represents.

If your hard disk is full, you need to create a new VHD which is larger,
then copy all the files from the original to the new one.

A virtual hard disk stays the same virtual size for ever. It cannot expand
its virtual size, any more than a real hard disk can.

I am soo frustrated. I have a dynamically expanding HD that is set for 16GB.
When running, it shows a capacity of only 2 GB. I'm trying to install XP
SP2, and it won't because there isn't enough disk space. I'm getting the
"low disk space" xp warning. Why won't it grow any bigger? I tried to
convert a fixed size disk, but it was taking > 3 hours, and was only half way
done?

Create a new .vhd with the Virtual Disk Wizard and then change the hard
drive 1 in the settings for the virtual machine to use the new .vhd. See if
that clears things up.
