How can I work with Virtual CD-ROM in VPC ? I have started the Virtual
Machine where the OS Dos is installed. I mounted the Virtual CD-Rom as the
drive Z:.
Now, how can I get to this drive ? When I wrote this: C:\> Z: , I got
this: Invalid drive specification. Can anybody help me, please?

If you are running a DOS prompt only, and by you comments about assigning
your CD-ROM as "Z:" implies that you have properly set the CD-ROM drivers in
the CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT to support the device (do you catch the
devdrv diagnostic startup messages?). Did you the "DOS VPC Additions" to
install these drivers or did you use your own (preferably the former)? If
necessary, try booting to a simpler CONFIG/AUTOEXEC arrange with just the
necessary drivers.

(BTW: I usually disable remove the idle detection driver from VPC under DOS
environments; sometimes the system runs like molasses with CDs and HDs
intensive (as in reading!) process. IMO)

FINALLY: Did you mount a CD using the menu VPC menu or the status bar icon?
ALSO: Does BIOS show a CD drive attached? Or did it accidentally get removed
from the BIOS/VPC configurations?

C:. I donÂ´t know how to install VM Additions for DOS. But I did it badly. I
thought this process in case of using the Virtual CD-ROM with instalation
image. I didnÂ´t restart the Virtual Machine after mounting the CD-drive using
the VPC menu. So I restarted VM and the instalation started automatically.

But it doesnÂ´t work in case of installation VM Addition, how I found out.

I'm not sure if I understand this last post: are you ok now? Yes the VPC VM
will boot a CD-ROM (if enabled in the BIOS, which it typically is) - was this
what you were trying to achieve in the first place (i.e. install an OS from
as setup CD?).

If, instead, you are trying to achieve a DOS VM and want CD-ROM driver
letter access, run the files on the "virtual floppy disk" that VPC2004
installs for managing DOS VMs. Look in the "\Program Files\Microsoft Virtual
PC" directory when mounting the floppy disk image.
