Keyboard stops working

Message:

I have just installed VPC 2004 on a Dell D505 notebook running WinXP
SP2, and created a virtual machine running WinXP SP1.

After running for a few minutes (usually between 5 and 10 mins) the
keyboard in the virtual machine stops working. I can use VPC's Edit
-> Paste to enter data, but no keyboard keys (except the Host key) has
any effect.

The only way I have found to fix it is to shut down the virtual
machine, exit and restart VPC and reboot. Just rebooting the virtual
machine has no effect.

I found a couple other threads here about this problem but it doesn't
look like anyone has found a solution.

A few months ago I did a similar installation on another machine that
was running WinXP SP1 and never saw this problem.

Any ideas?
