Cannot connect virtual PC to Host NIC

Source: microsoft.public.virtualpc

Message:

Just installed virtual pc 2004 on windows xp pro.
Created a virtual Hard Drive and attempted to configure it to use the host
NIC directly. My options are:
-No Nic
-NAT
-Local

I don't see a 4th option which would be my NIC.
On the host system under device manager I see two entries. One is
- 1394 Net adapter
- Nvidia Nforce networking adapter

The first seems to be the integrated nic on this ASUS motherboard I have
The second seems to be a software driver to support various motherboard
features.

I'm not sure if something needs to change with those two to make them
"visible" to Virtual PC.

(My original problem which got me looking at networking is that upon
installing (or trying) windows xp pro on the virtual pc, it rejected EVERY pc
name I chose as "already existing" so asdfwerwer already existed, gimli,
sam, greg, tracey, sillycomputername, abort etc etc. Obviously that wasn't
the problem, but rather a symptom of a deeper problem (this networking issue?)

Greg.
